The 5 point work programme for The Digital Future includes the establishment of a new stakeholders' group, determining the scope and agenda, research, events, and sustainability through funding.

1. Establishing a new high level stakeholders’ group:

A particular effort will be placed on attracting leaders of major European/Middle East/Africa (EMEA) headquarters of digital companies to participate, media stakeholders and digital thinkers.

2. Determining the scope & agenda:
Defining the agenda and scope of the Digital Future research area, in consultation with stakeholders.

3. Research & Authoring:
Authoring the Digital Competitiveness report, on the basis of consultation with relevant stakeholders drawn largely from the EMEA headquarters, digital thought leaders, and Irish and EU policy officials. This report would seek to inform the policy community, with the benefit of insights drawn from the digital industry. The guiding principle, established at a meeting in November 2007 of myself, Brendan Tuohy, and Jill Donoghue, is to produce an accessible report on options for maintaining competitive edge and implications of change in the Digital Future.

4. Programme of Events:
Setting agenda and securing high calibre speakers for a series of events on The Digital Future.

5. Funding:
Scouting and arranging, in cooperation with the Finance & Administrative Committee, prospective funding to support the project. The Digital Future is an entirely new avenue of research for the IIEA, and represents a potential vein of funding – including strategic partnerships.
