About the Event:
In their election manifesto for 2010, the Conservatives are set to propose the introduction of a dedicated Border Police Force as well as an annual limit on the number of economic migrants from outside the EU permitted to work in Britain. Damian Green discussed these and other Conservative policy proposals in the context of current political, economic and demographic shifts both in the United Kingdom and across the European Union. In a wide-ranging speech, he listed the Conservatives’ three priorities in the area of immigration as strengthening borders, improving information exchange, and resolving issues in the system for asylum-seekers.
About the Speaker:
Damian Green is the British Conservative MP for Ashford and Shadow Minister for Immigration. A former financial journalist, Mr Green worked in the Prime Minister's Policy Unit from 1992-94. He was a Conservative Spokesman on Education and Employment from 1998-99, Environment Spokesman from 1999-2001, Shadow Secretary of State for Education and Skills from 2001-2003, and Shadow Secretary of State for Transport from 2003-2004. He was appointed Shadow Minister for Immigration in 2005. He has served on the Home Affairs Select Committee and the Treasury Select Committee and is the Chairman of Parliamentary Mainstream and a Vice-President of the Tory Reform Group.

your policies do not go far enough. an end to immigration, deportatiom of all those deceitful enough to be here illegally, overseas aid only to those counntries where we have a influx of immigrants, no more asylam seekers unless there from any of our neighbours, i could go on but i will leave it there enoch powells rivers of blood may yet come true if you politicians dont get your skirts off and take some of the tough ddecisions that are needed.
